Monique MacDonald has over 20 years of experience in the Insurance Industry in the Cayman Islands including 15 years as part of the senior management of a Cayman Islands captive insurance management company and 3 years in insurance regulation with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA”). Monique graduated from Baylor University, Texas with a BBA in Accounting in 1994, and subsequently earned an Associate in Risk Management. During her time with CIMA, Mrs. MacDonald was instrumental in the design and implementation of captive on-site inspections in the Cayman Islands - the second offshore jurisdiction to implement a formal on-site inspection program for captive insurers.
Monique’s captive management experience includes oversight of companies which provided a variety of coverages for a multitude of risks including professional liability, workers compensation, general and property, and reinsurance of long- term business. She has written a number of articles on the benefits and evolution of captives and the alternative risk coverage that they provide.
Mrs. MacDonald is a former board member of IMAC's Executive Committee having held in the following positions: IMAC Vice-Chair (2008-2010), IMAC Chairperson (2010 - 2011), Chair of IMAC's Research & Development Committee (2011-2012), and Secretary of the Executive Committee (2012-2014).
